Synopsis

After a tragic car accident leaves their mother dead, brothers John and Gary Cain react in very different ways. Sensible John is trying to keep the family together – studiously revising for his imminent GCSEs, falling for the wrong girl and trying to support Dad with his string of disastrous dates. Gary, on the other hand, is dabbling in petty theft, truancy and joyriding – and driving the family apart. He only comes to his senses when his new so-called friends threaten to stab John and in defending him, he gets injured himself.
